Your Store Has Accessibility Issues. Almost Every Store Does.
Shooopr checks your store against WCAG 2.1 AA, the standard the EAA and ADA guidance point to. Each run audits up to 20 pages, one of each page type first, with two rule engines, and shows you the page and element behind every finding. Automated checks cannot decide every criterion, so we tell you which ones still need a person. Available on Investigator and above.

The Lawsuit You Don't See Coming
Web accessibility isn't an abstract compliance exercise — it's a growing area of litigation in e-commerce, and e-commerce stores remain a primary target. Most merchants receive no warning before a demand letter arrives, and the cost of response, legal fees and mandatory remediation can escalate quickly.
The European Accessibility Act became enforceable in June 2025, adding another layer of compliance requirements for any Shopify store selling to EU customers. This isn't a US-only issue anymore — it's a global compliance reality.
What makes this particularly dangerous for Shopify merchants is that most stores unknowingly inherit accessibility failures from their themes and apps. Ready-made themes that weren't built with accessibility in mind, third-party apps that inject inaccessible scripts, embedded widgets without proper ARIA labels — these create violations merchants don't even know exist. The most damaging misconception is that accessibility overlays solve the problem. The FTC has taken enforcement action against overlay vendors over deceptive compliance claims, and the underlying failures remain in the store.
Specific Failures in Three Steps
Automated Rule Checks
Two engines run on every audit: axe-core, with 104 checks at WCAG 2.1 AA including 8 Shopify-specific ones, and IBM Equal Access. Findings both engines agree on are marked as confirmed by both. Desktop is always audited; a mobile viewport is optional.
Violation Mapping
Every issue is categorised by WCAG 2.1 success criterion, severity level, and the specific page and element where it occurs, so you know what to fix and where.
Remediation Roadmap
Prioritised fix recommendations, starting with the highest legal and user-experience risk violations, and a plain list of what a human reviewer should check next.
Beyond the Checkbox
Up to 20 Pages, Every Page Type
We audit one representative of each of 9 page types: home, product, collection, cart, a content page, a policy, a blog article, search and your 404. Then we add further pages up to 20. Checkout is hosted by Shopify, so it is out of scope, and every report says which pages were audited.
A Real Keyboard Walk
We press Tab through the page the way a keyboard user would and flag places where focus is not visible. It covers the elements reached during that walk, not every element on the page.
What Still Needs a Human
Automated rules cannot judge the screen reader experience, whether alt text is meaningful rather than merely present, or colour used as the only indicator. We name those gaps in every report instead of hiding them.
Documented Findings Over Time
Timestamped reports that record what was audited, what failed and what has been remediated, useful evidence of ongoing effort in the event of a demand letter or regulatory inquiry. It is not a conformance certificate, and it is not legal advice.
